Make a MakerBot - Open Source Personal Fabrication and Manufacturing

In this 8 hour workshop, participants will get all the skills needed to make a robot from scratch and then print objects with it. Besides doing our part to decentralize the global manufacturing process, participants will learn how to do surface-mount soldering (SMD), and learn lots of robot assembly tips and tricks. Participants will also get an introduction to designing and converting 3D STL files into gcode and converting the gcode into actual objects. We're planning on bringing a fully made machine and a put together a kit together as a team during the workshop so that we can go back and forth from teaching digital design and printing objects.
